This policy explains how advertising and sponsorships work on our website, and how we ensure that editorial independence remains intact.

Our goal is full transparency and separation between editorial content and paid placements.

Republic Watch maintains strict separation between:

Sponsored content will never appear without full disclosure.

Affiliate content will include a disclosure at the top of the article.

D. Newsletter Sponsorships

If enabled, email newsletters may contain:

3. How We Distinguish Ads From Journalism

To protect editorial integrity:

  • Ads will not be positioned in a way that mimics editorial content
  • Sponsored articles will always include disclosure labels
  • We will not publish “advertorials” without clear separation
  • Paid content will not appear in news categories unless labeled

If an article is sponsored:

🔹 It will not be written by the editorial team unless disclosed.

4. Ad Targeting & Data

Third-party advertising partners may:

  • Use browser/device identifiers
  • Display interest-based ads
  • Analyze ad performance

This occurs through:

  • Google AdSense / Ad Manager
  • Other third-party ad networks

5. Conflicts of Interest

Republic Watch will not accept advertising or sponsorships from:

  • PACs / Super PACs
  • Government agencies

  • Organizations engaged in harmful or deceptive practices

We may decline ads that conflict with our mission or values.

6. Sponsored Content Standards

Sponsored content:

  • Must be truthful and accurate

  • Must not contain harmful or misleading claims
  • Must not promote illegal or unethical behavior
  • Cannot be political in nature (per Google Ads policies) unless reviewed for compliance

Sponsored content appears separate from news reporting and does not influence editorial decisions.

7. Affiliate Links Transparency

If affiliate links are used:

  • Articles will disclose this at the top
  • Links will be identifiable as affiliate-related
  • Readers will pay no extra cost
  • Editorial teams will not recommend products purely for commission

8. Reader Donations & Voluntary Support (If Used)

If Republic Watch offers:

  • Reader donations
  • Membership programs
  • Paid subscriptions
  • Crowdfunding

We will disclose:

  • How funds are used
  • Whether donors influence editorial content (they do not)
  • Whether donors receive any special privileges

Editorial decisions remain independent regardless of donations.

9. Ad Removal Requests

We cannot remove specific ads for individual readers.
However, readers may:

  • Use browser-based ad blockers
  • Adjust cookie preferences
  • Opt out of personalized ads via Google settings
